Kevin Murphy is head of the asset management and investment funds group at Arthur Cox. He has extensive experience in advising on the legal and regulatory issues surrounding the establishment of public and private investment funds, ranging from advising on the structuring and offering of such funds, advising on the eligibility of various asset classes, and advising on ongoing legal and regulatory issues as they arise. He advises many leading financial institutions, investment banks and asset management companies on such structures and acts as lead counsel to their investment fund structures (which include UCITS, qualifying investor fund structures, hedge funds and private equity funds).

Mr Murphy was previously a corporate and securities partner in the United States with law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal.

He is a member of the Prime Minister’s and Taoiseach’s IFSC Funds Group. This Committee advises on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the Irish investment funds industry. He is also immediate past chair of the Irish Funds Industry Association.

Mr Murphy holds a BCL and an LLB from University College Cork, an LLM (commercial law) from University College Dublin and a JD from the University of Missouri School of Law. He was admitted as a solicitor in Ireland in 1992 and in England and Wales in 1996, and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1998. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
