Christian Hammerl practises in the areas of corporate and restructuring law, corporate compliance, privacy law and data security and IT law (including licensing). Many of his clients are US companies seeking general counsel services for their European operations. Mr Hammerl has represented members of creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 proceedings and worked on restructuring transactions in, inter alia, the hospitality industry. Before joining Wolf Theiss in 2009, he was the chief legal officer for international operations of the Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer Inc, overseeing Acer’s US legal department in San Jose, California. Prior to working at Acer, Mr Hammerl was in private practice for six years in New York City. He holds law degrees from the University of Vienna, Austria, and the UC Berkeley School of Law. He is admitted to practise in Austria, New York, California and in England and Wales (solicitor), and has been certified by IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) as a CIPP/US, CIPP/E and CIPM.
