Nuno Ferreira Lousa leads Linklaters Lisbon office dispute resolution practice, and is a member of the firm’ International Arbitration group. He also heads the restructuring & insolvency practice.
Nuno is a renowned dispute resolution lawyer, advising on the full range of financial disputes, as well as having extensive experience in regulatory investigations covering compliance, fraud and anti-corruption. In addition, Nuno has developed significant experience in contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency issues, having handled numerous domestic and cross-jurisdiction insolvency and pre-insolvency proceedings.
He regularly acts as counsel in both domestic and international arbitration cases before tribunals including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC Portugal), as well as ad hoc arbitrations. He has advised on a wide range of commercial disputes, including commercial contracts, shareholders’ agreements, construction contracts and public contracts.
Nuno is the Chairman of the Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption Commission at the ICC Portugal and a member of the Portuguese Arbitration Association (APA), while integrating the list of arbitrators of the Arbitration Centre of the Lisbon Commercial Association, the British Virgin Islands International Arbitration Centre, the Spanish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, the Sports Arbitral Tribunal, the Oporto Commercial Arbitration Institute and Concordia. Nuno also advises on disputes in Lusophone Africa, counselling clients on bribery and anti-corruption issues and representing Portuguese businesses in cross-border arbitrations. He is a visiting professor at the Law School of the University of Lisbon and at the Law School of the Nova University of Lisbon. Nuno also publishes several articles on litigation and arbitration matters.
