Sonal has been a full-time director with Anjarwalla & Khanna, a leading law firm in Kenya, for over 18 years. Sonal is also a director at ATZ Law Chambers – ALN’s Tanzanian member firm with whom A&K works very closely. Prior to joining Anjarwalla & Khanna, Sonal worked at Franks Charlesly & Co in London for 11 years (six of these as a partner). She is a solicitor of the Senior Court of England and Wales with considerable experience in aviation, finance, banking, energy, infrastructure projects and project finance, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets.

Sonal is a regular speaker at various seminars on various aspects of banking and commercial law. She has contributed to a number of publications, including the Kenyan chapters for Aircraft Finance: Registration Security and Enforcement and Aircraft Liens & Detention Rights published by Sweet & Maxwell. Sonal has also written articles and spoken at a number of seminars , including seminars hosted by AFRAA, the legal issues relating to the Oil & Gas sector and the UK based Loan Market Association.

In addition, Sonal sits on the Board of Directors of both Liberty Life Insurance Company Limited and Heritage Insurance Company Limited and is the Vice Chairperson of the British Business Association of Kenya.
