Robert Lawson QC is a barrister and partner in the Aviation group of Clyde & Co LLP. His practice covers all aspects of aviation related liability, regulation and contentious commercial work. Before joining Clyde & Co in February 2017, Robert spent 26 years in independent practice at the English Bar during which time his work focussed upon the world of, and law relating to, aviation. He obtained the rank of Queen’s Counsel in 2009.

Robert has acted as advocate in numerous cases creating significant new legal precedent covering a wide variety of legal fields and has acted and advised in many of the most notable disputes in the aviation sector governed by English law fought over the last two decades. He was one of the two principal contributors to Halsbury’s Laws of England title ‘Aviation’, Volume 2(3), 4th Edition Reissue (2003), and has been recognised as a leading aviation practitioner by all of the foremost independent legal directories.

Robert is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and was chairman of its Air Law group from 2010 to 2016. He is also a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
