Mona Dejean has been an associate at HFW for 10 years and specialises in shipping and transport. As a French avocat, her job consists of providing advice on legal risks, assisting with or carrying out settlement negotiations, legal representation in arbitration or before the commercial, administrative and criminal courts.

She has broad experience in resolving disputes arising out of charter parties, contracts of carriage, freight forwarding, marine insurance and shipbuilding contracts, and deals with the legal and practical issues arising out of maritime casualties. Her litigation experience also includes arresting and releasing vessels (including in jurisdictions of developing countries) and judicial sale of ships.

Ms Dejean studied law at University Paris V – René Descartes, where she obtained a master’s degree in French contracts and torts law, and a master’s degree in international business law. Ms Dejean is a member of the French Shipping Law Association, Wista France and the Paris Propeller Club.
