Meredith Kotler is a partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP based in New York. Ms Kotler’s practice focuses on securities, M&A, general commercial and shareholder derivative litigation, in federal and state trial and appellate courts. She regularly represents clients in securities class actions and a host of corporate governance matters. Ms Kotler has been recognised as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation and The Legal 500 US, and has spoken on securities issues and other topics before the Practising Law Institute, the SEC Institute and the Compliance, Governance and Oversight Council. Her writings on the latest developments in Delaware courts and deal litigation have been published in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and other outlets.
Before entering private practice, Ms Kotler served as an assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York from 1998 to 2004. During the last year and a half of her tenure, she was the Deputy Chief Appellate Attorney in the Civil Division. Ms Kotler joined the firm as a partner in 2009. She received a JD from Harvard Law School and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University. She also served as a law clerk to the Honourable Barbara S Jones of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ms Kotler is a member of the Bar of New York.
