Richard Dissmann has been practising trademark law as a private practice lawyer since 2000.
In all these years, he has been doing ‘Soft IP’ work exclusively. He started his career at an international law firm in Cologne, and then moved to Bird & Bird in 2004, where he became a partner in 2007. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the ‘Protection of well-known trademarks’ at the University of Cologne. He is ranked as a leading lawyer in the trademark field in all relevant directories. His main focus in the area of trademarks is contentious work, i.e., litigation and other enforcement matters. However, he also advises his clients on strategic issues, and oversees the operations of a portfolio team.
