Dr Neil Chetcuti joined Fenech Farrugia Fiott Legal as a legal trainee in 2011 and occupied this position up to 2015 following his graduation as a Doctor of Laws, which was followed by his immediate appointment as an associate lawyer with the firm and subsequently senior associate. 

Dr Chetcuti attended the University of Malta, successfully completing his bachelor of laws degree in 2011. This was followed by a diploma of notary public, which was awarded to him in 2012, and subsequently, a doctor of laws degree in 2014. Dr Chetcuti’s LLD thesis analysed the Enforcement Directive (IPRED), focusing on its effectiveness and application in Maltese law. In 2014–2015, Dr Chetcuti furthered his legal studies at Queen Mary University in London. He successfully submitted and defended his thesis entitled ‘The Regulation of Hedge Funds in the European Union – A Critical Analysis of the Alternative Investment Fund Manager’s Directive (AIFMD)’ and graduated with a masters degree in corporate and commercial law.
