Valérie Simonart is member of the corporate and finance practice group. She focuses on corporate advice, governance structures, corporate reorganisations and capital market operations. She has particular expertise in real estate companies (such as REITs), and in structural solutions combining corporate and real estate mechanisms. She acts for listed, institutional and private companies, as well as for shareholders and not-for-profit organisations. She is also a professor at the University of Brussels (ULB) where she teaches in legal personality and company law.

She is the author of a number of books on various forms of groupings and, in collaboration, of a treatise on companies (three volumes) and handbooks on SIR/GVV (REITs). She has also written many articles on company law, financial law and corporate governance.

She holds a law degree (1986) and a doctor of laws (1993), from the University of Brussels (ULB) with a thesis on legal personality in private law. She also holds an LLM from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, US (1987).

Valérie joined Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick in 1994, and became a partner in 1997.
