Ariane is a partner and co-head of Bird & Bird’s international data protection Group. Thanks to many years of experience dedicated to data protection, she can provide innovative and practical solutions to clients around the world. In her role as co-head of our international data protection group, she has extensive GDPR expertise and she assists clients through the twists and turns of local law divergences, so that they can reach global compliance and find practical solutions.
With the extremely dedicated data protection team, she assists extensively on compliance actions and practical implementation such as responses to complaints and exercises of rights, security breach management and notifications, contracts, GDPR required procedures and documentation, assessment of legal basis for processing, digital compliance (cookies, cybersecurity), privacy policies and BCRs, to name a few.
She also has years of practice assisting with dawn raids from data protection authorities and with disputes against the CNIL and other data protection authorities. Prior to Bird & Bird, she worked at the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL), and as a data protection expert within the European Union Commission, so she has in-house experience with regulators.
She is also particularly involved in data protection certification: she is accredited as an Expert to EuroPriSe, the ‘European Privacy Seal’, so she is entitled to assess data protection compliance at EU level, which allows manufacturers and vendors to obtain EuroPriSe European data protection certification of their IT products, software, websites and IT-based services. Her data protection training seminar, ‘Data Protection : Achieving Compliance’ was also certified by the CNIL and obtained the ‘Label CNIL’, and was recertified in 2018 in compliance with the GDPR. Within her team, they can therefore provide specific training to DPOs so that they can prepare for GDPR certification under the CNIL’s official standards.
The team do many training seminars to keep their clients up to date with new developments; she is a frequent speaker at data protection conferences and events over the world.
