His days at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay) pursuing aMasters in Biotechnology kindled a fascination for chemical compounds and biological molecules. A subsequent stint as a research fellow at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Defence Research and Development Organization exposed him to the world of patenting.

Graduating in Chemistry with a post-graduate degree in Biotechnology, Devinder has drafted over 75 patents in diverse fields including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and medical devices, for various jurisdictions including the US, the UK, Australia, Singapore and India.

He delivers end-to-end patent strategy and services besides being heavily involved in patent prosecution and patent analytics.

Regularly involved in complex pharmaceutical and life sciences contentious patent matters, Devinder has his plate of pre-grant in the chosen domain full, although post-grant activities equally engage him. He has been involved in several pre-grant and post-grant oppositions before the Indian Patent Office involving several new chemical entities and has been instrumental in providing keen insights on the subject matter of cases before various judicial and quasi-judicial forums in India, such as the High Court. He regularly appears before the Intellectual Property Appellate Board.

Devinder has co-authored the Indian chapter in Global Patent Litigation: How and Where to Win and the Indian chapter dealing with ‘Organisation and financing of healthcare’ in Lexology Getting The Deal Through: Life Sciences in 2019.
