Mr Dhonke Kafi is one of the founding partners of DKMS Lawyers, now a member firm of One Asia Lawyers. He has 20 years of experience as a lawyer. He has advised numerous infrastructure deals including public–private partnerships.
Prior to establishing DKMS Lawyers he worked at a top infrastructure law-firm and a number of international organisations such as The World Bank, United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
One of his assignments was being involved in tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction activities through Badan Rehabilitasi Rekonstruksi Aceh dan Nias (BRR) where he worked as a technical adviser for its legal unit. BRR is the government agency at ministry level established to perform post tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aceh and Nias island. During his tenure, he advised the head of BRR on the legal aspects to numerous regulations and decrees he produced. In addition, he assisted in mediating numerous disputes between international NGOs and their contractors.
Mr Kafi obtained a bachelor’s degree from Trisakti University majoring in international and business law, an MSc in business management from Aston University in the United Kingdom and an LLM in international economic law from Queen Mary University of London. He is a advocate licensed by PERADI, a licensed intellectual property rights consultant, certified procurement specialist and certified PPP specialist by APMG International. He is a specialist in infrastructure and energy projects; public–private partnerships; and construction and contract management.
