Gonçalo Moreira Rato is the managing partner and the head of the intellectual property practice at Magalhães Associados. He has extensive experience in trademarks, patents, designs, including registrations, prosecution and litigation matters. Gonçalo advises clients from various sectors in particular health service providers, tourism and infrastructure companies.
With over 30 years of experience, Gonçalo is an IP agent in Portugal and is officially recognised by the Portuguese Bar Association as an IP specialist. Gonçalo is also a European trademark and patent attorney and is an arbitrator at the Arbitration Centre for Industrial Property, Domain Names and Company Names.
He is a member of several national and international associations specialising in intellectual property: European Community Trade Mark Association; International Trademark Association; International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property; International Federation of Counsels in Industrial Property; European Patent Institute; MARQUES; Pharmaceutical Trade Mark Group; and International Chamber of Commerce.
