José Tomás Barrueto is a partner at Bertrand-Galindo BarruetoBarroilhet&Cía. in Santiago, Chile,and he co-heads the firm`s Mining, Energy and Natural Resources department. From 2012 to 2013 he was a visiting lawyer at Dechert LLP, New York.
José Tomás Barrueto concentrates his practice in mining and energy law, environmental law, sanctioning and judicial proceedings, administrative law, corporate law and project development.
Mr. Barrueto has extensive experience advising clients in issues related to the environmental assessment impact system, the Environmental Superintendence and the Environmental Courts. He also worked at the Chilean Environmental Assessment Agency and the National Commission of the Environment.
José Tomás Barrueto holds a J.D. from Universidad de los Andes and an LL.M. from University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Law School. He is a member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the Chilean-German Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Barrueto has been a professor of mining and energy courses at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Law School. He has also served as assistant professor of Civil (Private) Law at the Universidad de los Andes.
