Lisa Laukitis represents corporations, secured and unsecured creditors, and private equity funds, advising on out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 bankruptcies. She also handles distressed mergers and acquisitions as well as financing arrangements, and she litigates disputes relating to the use of cash collateral, debtor-in-possession financings, sales under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code, modifications of labour agreements and retiree benefits, and plan confirmations. She has experience in a wide variety of industries, including metals and mining, automotive, general manufacturing, energy, telecommunications, cable, retail and shipping. She also regularly represents private equity and hedge funds in connection with their investments in distressed companies.
Recent representations include several out-of-court restructurings on behalf of multibillion-dollar companies, ad hoc groups of bondholders of Martin Midstream and Voyager Aviation, the Chapter 11 trustee and plan administrator of CFG Peru Singapore (a significant Peruvian anchovy fishing operation), and Perfumania, Inc and its affiliates (a manufacturer and retailer of fragrances and related products) in connection with their pre-packaged Chapter 11 cases and Markel CATCo in connection with its Chapter 15 cases. Other representations include numerous Chapter 11 debtors, including Molycorp, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, Hostess Brands, Allegiance Telecom, The Boyds Collection, Norwood Promotional Products, NRG Energy, Pierre Foods, Tower Automotive, Trico Marine Services and Penton Media.
Ms Laukitis holds numerous industry accolades, including inclusion in Chambers USA, IFLR1000, The Best Lawyers in America and the Lawdragon 500. She was also one of The Deal’s 2020 ‘top women in dealmaking’ for M&A and is a member of the International Insolvency Institute.
