Lucía Fernández González is counsel at the firm and has over 15 years of experience delivering legal advice to companies from a wide range of industries, including on commercial and corporate matters related to information technology, data protection, consumer protection, franchising, licensing and distribution, joint ventures and strategic alliances. She also advises on regulatory matters, particularly in connection with advertising and marketing.
Lucía is an expert on data protection, and her experience includes providing advice to clients on data processing in line with local law, as well as different aspects of their day-today business operations, specialised transactions and internal data protection audits. Her experience also includes drafting, reviewing and implementing companies’ data protection policies, notices and procedures.
Lucía’s experience in information technology includes assisting clients in the review, implementation and adaptation of their e-commerce websites, over-the-top services and other web-based products and services from a legal perspective. She also assists clients with their online marketing strategies and campaigns, including reviewing the compliance of online marketing campaigns, online loyalty programmes, data processing and management.
She is an active member of PrivacyRules (a global alliance of privacy experts) and Mexico’s National Association of Corporate Counsel. Lucía has co-authored several articles and guides in relation to her fields of expertise, including the Mexico chapters in ICLG’s Consumer Protection 2020 and 2021, the Mexico chapter in Chambers and Partners Advertising & Marketing 2020 and the Mexico chapters on sub-franchising, master franchising and development agents in Lexology Getting the Deal Through Practice Guide: Franchise 2019 and 2020.
Lucía holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from New York University and a law degree (JD equivalent) from the University of Monterrey. She also read law at the Paris-Panthéon- Assas University.
