Mario Barrera-Vázquez serves as co-head of the tax practice in Holland & Knight’s Mexico City office. Mr Barrera focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border tax advisory, planning and strategy. He represents clients before tax authorities in procedures such as tax examinations, administrative appeals, settlements and mutual agreement procedures. Mr Barrera also has broad experience handling tax treaties, transfer pricing matters and corporate reorganisations.

He holds a JD degree, summa cum laude, from the University of the Americas (1999) and an LLM degree in taxation, summa cum laude, from the Panamerican University (2002), and he successfully undertook the international tax programme of study of Harvard University, School of Law (2000).

Mario is a lecturer of graduate taxation courses in various universities, such as the Panamerican University, and is a member of the International Fiscal Association, the Mexican Bar Association and the Harvard Alumni Association, among others.
