Melanie Tollemache is a commercial lawyer trained in economics, who specialises in competition and regulatory law. During her 23 years of practice, Melanie has advised major New Zealand and overseas organisations on issues arising under the Commerce Act and industry-specific regulation. This practice has focused on business acquisitions and restrictive trade practices. She has also been involved in some major litigation of issues under the Commerce Act.
Melanie’s practice has covered a wide range of industries from telecommunications to energy (electricity, gas and petroleum), building supplies, cinema distribution rights and laboratory testing.
Melanie has written for a number of publications including the European Competition Law Review. Melanie’s paper ‘Barriers to Entry and Competition Law: Philosophical and Policy Links’ was published by the Commerce Commission as Issue 3 of its Occasional Paper series.
