Neelambera Sandeepan is a joint partner in the competition law practice at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan. Neelambera advises on a full range of competition matters, including cartel enforcement, abuse of dominance, leniency applications, merger control and competition law audit and compliance. Neelambera regularly represents clients in cartel investigations as well as abuse of dominance proceedings before the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
She has represented Ambuja Cements Limited before the CCI and the erstwhile Competition Law Appellate Tribunal in the landmark cement cartel case in which companies were penalised with fines of approximately US$1.6 billion by the CCI, the highest fine imposed by the CCI to date. She has successfully represented several high-profile clients in complex, precedent-setting behavioural matters, including the International Air Transport Association, Gujarat Gas Company Limited, Prestige Estates Projects Limited, Adani Gas Limited, Karam Chand Thapar & Bros (Coal Sales) Limited and UltraTech Cement Limited, among others.
Neelambera has advised clients on some of the most intricate M&A transactions in India. Her experience in merger control ranges across various sectors, such as cement, airlines, real estate, private equity, banking, insurance, credit cards and e-commerce.
Neelambera is currently serving on the advisory board of the RMLNLU Law Review and regularly writes on various aspects of Indian competition law in national and international publications.
