Peter Lake is a partner at Slaughter and May. He is involved in a wide range of corporate work, advising companies, financial institutions and fund management groups. He is a member of the investment products and financial services committee of the Hong Kong Law Society.
His work includes advising Standard Chartered Bank on its strategic joint venture to build a new standalone digital retail bank in Hong Kong; Standard Chartered Bank on the establishment of a Hong Kong hub entity structure to enhance capital and liquidity utilisation across the SCB Group; various banks on banking portfolio acquisitions; Union Bancaire Privée, UBP SA on the setting up of its Hong Kong operations and its banking portfolio acquisition; Prudential plc on its demerging of European business and the taking on by the Hong Kong Insurance Authority of group-wide supervision of Prudential’s Asian and US business; the Oxford Asset Management Group including in relation to OxAM Quant Fund; and Moore Capital on Hong Kong regulatory matters.
Mr Lake is qualified in England and Wales and in Hong Kong. He has published in the areas of asset management, banking and banking regulation.
