Pieter is a real estate lawyer and head of the firm’s real estate practice. He specialises in general property related matters, focusing more recently on advising clients in relation to leases (both for new builds and existing conversions), all property related aspects in project finance matters (acting both for lenders and sponsors). In addition to those focus areas, he is still involved on a daily basis in general conveyancing, mortgage financing (commercial and residential) as well as transfers, subdivisions and consolidations and general notarial work, with specific reference to notarial bonds and servitudes.
Pieter advises and assists all the major commercial and private banks and some foreign financial institutions in relation to mortgage financing and general property advice and also acts on behalf of the local authority from time to time in a variety of property related matters.
His professional qualifications are B Comm (Law), LLB (University of Pretoria), Admitted Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public of the High Court of South Africa and a Member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, South Africa.
He has been published in the Financial Mail Property Handbook 2010, Property Law Digest, Practical Law Corporate Real Estate multi-jurisdictional guide 2014, 2015, and The International Comparative Legal Guide to Real Estate 2016, 2017 and 2018.
