Called to the Bar in 1987, Andre Yeap was appointed Senior Counsel in January 2003. Apart from being senior partner at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, he also heads the international arbitration practice at the firm, which is the first Asian law firm to be ranked within the top 30 arbitration practices in the world by the Global Arbitration Review.
While focusing substantially on international arbitration work, Andre has developed a broad-based corporate, commercial and insolvency-related litigation practice, often with strong cross-border elements. Andre is also active in construction and project-related work, and he remains active in commercial dispute work in court and many of his cases, including those involving the setting aside of international arbitration awards, are landmark cases, setting precedents for various areas of the law.
With a diverse portfolio of international arbitration and court cases to his name, Andre has acted in several billion-dollar international arbitration disputes, including various investor–state disputes where he has represented the state interest. Andre has dealt with disputes relating to Singapore law, Indonesian law, Thai law, Malaysian law, Indian law, Philippines law, Japanese law, Chinese law and Hong Kong law, among others, before numerous arbitration bodies, including ICC, PCA, SIAC, HKIAC, JCAA, AAA and LCIA.
