The seventh edition of The Private Equity Review follows a turbulent and at times nerve-wracking 2017. It was also a year in which private equity demonstrated its strength as an asset class in spite – perhaps because – of that turbulence. Deal activity and fundraising were strong in almost every major market despite fierce competition from public strategic buyers and strong returns in other asset classes.
Welcome to the second edition of The Healthcare Law Review. The Review provides an introduction to healthcare economies and their legal frameworks in 17 jurisdictions, with new contributions from Japan, Korea and Finland. These new chapters, together with updates to the jurisdictions previously covered in the first edition, only serve to emphasise that this is a constantly changing environment. While hugely diverse, it is possible to discern common challenges and similar approaches in very different countries.
The importance of the asset management industry continues to grow. Nowhere is this truer than in the context of pensions, as the global population becomes larger, older and richer, and government initiatives to encourage independent pension provision continue.
