Ugo is a 2003 graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and holds a master’s degree from the University of Aberdeen. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2004. A skilled solicitor, Ugo has more than a decade of banking experience, having previously worked in-house with some of the leading commercial banks in Nigeria. He commenced his career as an advocate and later joined the Equitorial Trust Bank as a Legal Officer in 2005. In 2011, he was engaged by Sterling Bank Plc as its Legal Officer (South West Region) where he was responsible for structuring some landmark transactions in which the bank was involved and ensuring compliance with existing regulations. He possesses a deep understanding of the Nigerian banking sector and capital market, and the impact of local and international regulations, enabling him to advise clients on international banking best practices. Ugo joined Perchstone & Graeys in 2015 as a Senior Associate in the firm’s solicitors’ department that comprises of banking and finance, ICT, capital markets, tax, etc.
