Chastin Bassingthwaighte has a BComm and an LLB from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She completed her legal education at the University of Pretoria, during which time she was invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society and served as an editor on the editorial board of the Pretoria Student Law Review. She also worked at the University of Pretoria law clinic in her final year.

She commenced her articles of clerkship with Koep & Partners in January 2013 under the supervision of Josias Andries Agenbach, and was admitted as an attorney on 8 August 2014. She concentrates on commercial work, focusing on company registrations, mining and competition (antitrust) law, and general corporate and commercial work.

She is a member of the Law Society of Namibia and speaks English, Afrikaans and German.
